DolphZiggler lost his first official match in the WWE main roster at WWE Backlash 2017 as he clashed with Shinsuke Nakamura.
The match on Sunday was definitely hard fought as both parties went head to head.
Ziggler was able to hold off his opponent for most of the match but Nakamura’s inverted exploder suplex dazed him. From then he easily cruised to victory.
Ahead of the fight, Ziggler seemed unimpressed by the Jap. He downplayed the achievements of the fighter, looking condescendingly on his lack of experience. Nakamura has a decent CV in NXT and Japan and was set for a strong debut.
Ziggler said the WWE fans accepted Nakamura even when he did not go past NXT. He trolled him online as well. Nakamura on his own part claimed he has been doing his best to entertain the fans for eight years now. He remained focused hoping to impress like he does in NXT. His matches against Bobby Roode, Sami Zayn and Austin Aries are highly rated in the NXT roster.
Ziggler is usually underrated as he has been around for a long time but the unpredictability around him earned the pairing with Nakamura. He had been looking for the right chance after the end of his Intercontinental Championship stint, Nakamura was supposed to be the opportunity. He blew it and now Nakamura has shown what he can do. He is now a threat to others on the blue brand.
